Meghan Jardine, MS MBA RDN LD CDCES earned master’s degrees in Nutrition and Food Science  from Texas Woman’s University and in business administration from the University of Dallas, after completing her bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition from the University of Maine.  She has worked in multiple capacities spanning more than two decades at Parkland Health and Hospital System, Dallas:  as a clinical dietitian serving HIV/AIDS patients;  as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Dietitian and Manager;  as Diabetes Coordinator for a nine site American Diabetes Association Education Recognition program;  and as a clinical dietitian providing nutrition education and medical nutrition therapy for patients with diabetes mellitus, pre-diabetes, obesity or other nutrition-related conditions.  She also served for eight years as the Associate Director of Diabetes Nutrition Education for the Washington DC preventative medicine oriented nonprofit Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

After seeing firsthand in clinical work how the complications of diabetes can negatively affect quality of life and long term health outcomes, Meghan committed herself to helping in the prevention and management of this devastating disease.  Throughout her career, she has worked to develop programs to educate physicians, other health care professionals and the public about nutrition as preventive medicine and about the health benefits of plant-based diets.  She is the Editor of Educators’ Corner for the Practical Diabetology clinician newsletter, and a member of the Member Affiliate Council Team for the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (formerly known as AADE).  She has been the principal author of 11 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and for three years was a member of the Editorial Board for Diabetes Spectrum, a publication of the American Diabetes Association.
