Kristen Gialo, DO DipABLM PMH-C earned her doctorate in medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine after receiving a BS degree in Neuroscience, and she followed with a Psychiatry residency at University of Maryland's Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital, ultimately serving as Inpatient and Execute Chief Resident. She completed the University of Maryland / Oxford University joint International Elective for Resolution of Intractable Conflict, is triply certified in Psychiatry, Lifestyle Medicine and Perinatal Mental Health, and has practiced clinically as a psychiatrist in a variety of settings.
Over the years, Dr. Gialo has specialized in treating patients with psychotic disorders, bipolar disorders, depressive disorders and anxiety disorders, and has integrated into her practice and her lecturing special focus areas such as: the gut-brain axis and the microbiome; the effects of exercise and physical activity on mental health, anxiety and mood; and the relationships between nutrition, Lifestyle Medicine and mental health. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Be Medicine, LLC, a clinic that utilizes evidence-based practices to prevent, treat and reverse chronic health problems, focusing on a community-centered mind-body approach to sustain positive health-promoting change. Be Medicine values and focuses on health education, teamwork, empowerment, self-pacing, support and trust as foundations for creating healthful change in patients' lives.
Dr. Gialo also serves as Medical Director and Psychiatrist for the Greenbrook TMS Neurohealth Center. She is a Journal/Abstract Peer Reviewer for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, is a Yoga Alliance 200 hour RYT Certified Instructor, and was honored as a Recipient of the Dr. Eugene B. Brody Award for Excellence in Psychotherapy with People with Serious Mental Illness.
