Judy Brangman, MD DipABLM, known on social media as "The Plant Based MD", completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at Wake Forest School of Medicine and her Internal Medicine residency at East Carolina University / Vidant Hospital. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, and in 2017 was one of the first group of physicians ever to be certified in Lifestyle Medicine by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. She holds a Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies.
Dr. Brangman is the founder and proprietor of Newell Health, a lifestyle medicine practice with a strong focus on nutrition and chronic disease prevention, and an openness to a range of modalities such as integrative medicine and herbal medicine. She has also long worked as a hospitalist in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. She has also taken a strong activist role in spreading educational messages about self-empowerment and health promotion out to the general public, such as via her founding and coordinating the September 2020 online Reclaim Your Health Summit event that featured over 20 African African speakers.
Originally from Bermuda, Dr. Brangman embraces the "food as medicine" concept, advocating a whole food plant-based diet for health reasons, but further regarding it as a kind and compassionate way to serve the environment and animal welfare. She is passionate about inspiring others to be the best possible version of themselves inside and out, while eating better, moving more and stressing less.
