Caroline Trapp, DNP ANP-BC CDCES DipACLM FAANP has long been committed to changing the way diabetes is treated.  Pills, injections, finger sticks, portion control, going hungry, carb-ophobia… there is a better way!   She obtained her Master’s degree in Community Health Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, and her BSN and post-Master’s certification in Adult Primary Care from the University of Michigan, where she has been an adjunct clinical faculty member since 2007.  She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Madonna University, Livonia, Michigan.  She currently works as a Nutrition Research Consultant for Northern Arizona University Dept. of Health Sciences, and we are proud that she served from 2015 to 2021 as a steadfast member of the Plant-based Prevention Of Disease, Inc. nonprofit board of directors.

Dr. Trapp has been a certified diabetes educator since 1994 and an adult primary care Nurse Practitioner specializing in the care of people with diabetes since 1998, and was honored to be inducted as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.  She was also board certified in advanced diabetes management, is a Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and has authored or co-authored nine peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.  She served for many years as Director of Diabetes Education and Care for Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

Dr. Trapp co-produced and was featured in the DVD, “A New Approach to Nutrition for Diabetes,” which received the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) “Favorably Reviewed” seal.  She received the 2012 Oakland University Nightingale Award for Education and Research, was named a 2001 Diabetes Advocate of the Year by the American Diabetes Association, and was a finalist for the 2010 AADE (now ADCES) Diabetes Educator of the Year Award.  She has created and implemented many innovative educational programs for diabetes patients and health care professionals.   She has been a widely respected lecturer nationally about diabetes prevention, treatment and reversal, with particular attention to plant-based nutrition interventions
